Best Ayurvedic Tips for Eye-Care routine to follow for good eyesight

Eyes are the most important part of a human body and many believe that eyes are a window to our soul which must be protected always. It is a delicate organ of the body, so you need to take the best care of it.

According to Ayurveda, pitta dosha which means fire and light controls the eyes. This dosha absorbs the different images and colors which allow us to see the world. When pitta dosha is in balance, our eyes remain healthy, radiant, and display a clear picture. Although, if it gets worse you may have to face some unnecessary impotence, anger, or liver problems. The best cure for maintaining this dosha is to have proper food and daily meditation.

Sunbathing – As per the Ayurvedic astrology, the Sun rules the eyes, and rejuvenating it with sunbathing can improve your vision. Initially, it starts from 10 seconds and increase the timings by 10 seconds per day. To have the best results, stand barefoot on a natural floor like sand or grass, not on asphalt. Sunbathing is a recommended option at the time of sunrise and sunset when the harmful UV rays cannot injure the eyes.

Do Tratak – A very useful exercise to overcome the eyesight problems is meditating on a candle flame without blinking your eyes. Simply just watch the flame for 2 or 3 minutes until your eyes get teary and tear clear it.

Subsoil Tarpanam – A special treatment that reduces eye-strain caused due to stress or regular use of tv, laptop, or computer. It involves specially prepared warm oil that is poured over the eye sockets. The best benefit of this practice is that it is useful in treating impaired vision and dry eye. Also, it reduces the itching and irritation.

Important note: It is not recommended for people with cataracts or other infectious eye conditions.

  • Eat apples and grapes daily to help in improving the vision of your eyes
  • Carrots are rich in Vitamin A which is good for improving vision
  • Cucumber juice works greatly to the eyes
  • Having spinach daily in the diet is quite helpful. It purifies the blood, increases hemoglobin, and enhance vision
  • Tomatoes, lettuce, cabbage, soy, green peas, oranges, beetroot, and dates are a good source of vitamin A. Consider these in your diet
  • Almonds are the best for improving eyesight and soothe mental stress. Eat them daily
  • Consuming blueberry juice is also good for eyes

Besides these, the best Ayurvedic herb for improving eyesight is Triphala, Ginkgo Biloba, and rosewater.

Things that you need to avoid are –

  • Excessive intake of salty and spicy foods
  • Extreme intake of unhealthy liquids having carbonate in beverages
  • Sudden changes in temperature like hot to cold or cold to hot
