How to deal with Skin Problems in Monsoon?

Monsoon is one of the most appropriate season to explore the beauty of nature and its wildlife creatures. Even the farmers of India welcomes monsoon with great enthusiasm as a gratitude for the beneficial yield of their crops. Sparkling waterfalls, beautiful valleys, bunch of eye catching flowers and green trees provides best natural scenery in this weather.

But along with the beautiful sceneries, monsoon season also brings dryness, itchiness , oily skin, redness and blisters to skin. The main reason behind this is the increased humidity during monsoon. Since humidity increases the chance of bacterial and fungal infections also, So wearing wet cloths for length of time encourages the growth of bacteria and fungus on your skin.

During monsoon our skin also tends to fluctuate between dry and oily skin because of the drastic and sudden changes that occurs in the humidity level in the atmosphere. In too humid conditions, our skin become more prone to oily and sweaty skin, which in return tends to attract dust, dirt and microorganisms that ultimately results in the outbreak of blackheads, acne, pimples and bacterial infections. So it is highly advised for person with oily skin to wash their face for at least three to four times a day. However, monsoon is also one such weather where excessive dryness of skin can be felt because of dehydration. Excess sweating and loss of water from the body makes the skin dull and luster less.

There are several ways to protect your skin from harmful effects of monsoon season :

Bath regularly and wash your face frequently – To prevent the clogging of your skin pores from excess of oil, you need to wash your face for at least thrice in a day. And regular bath along with cleaning of you intimate areas prevents the fungal and bacterial infection. And to prevent the infection of skins, it is always advised to use dry and clean towel after bath.

Drink at least 8 glass of water a day – Increased humidity and moisture in monsoon season increases the loss of water from our body through sweating and people having dry skin  tends to have lusterless and dull skin because of the lack of moisture and hydration. So to cope up with the loss of water and to turn your skin into glowing and bright skin, it is necessary to have at least eight full glasses of water in a day.

Say no to wet cloths and shoes – Wearing wet cloth for a length of time can results in adverse effect on your skin. With increase in humidity and moisture in monsoon season, the wet cloths endorses the growth of fungus and bacteria that cause severe skin infections. And to prevent the itching sensation between your toes, one need to wash them regularly and avoid wearing wet shoes for long time also.

Exfoliate your skin in rainy season – Exfoliation of skin helps in the unclogging of pores and rejuvenates your skin by removing dead skin cells. Exfoliating you skin with mild exfoliating agent can helps you in attaining glowing skin even in rainy season. Papaya, sugar, baking soda and yogurt are some common and easily available mild exfoliating agent that can help your skin in its rejuvenating process.

Use home made face masks – Use of made facial mask promotes the over all skin health and prevent the skin from the side effects of monsoon season. Regular use of smooth paste prepared form fuller’s earth (multani mitti) , rose water and sandalwood powder can help you to get relief from acnes and pimples. And application of thick layer of face pack made up of gram flour, turmeric, yogurt, and honey along with lemon extract imparts natural glow on your skin even in raining seasons.

Eat healthy and avoid make-up – Healthy dietary habits prevents the outbreak of acne and pimples, and promotes overall skin health. One should also avoid make up and use of artificial jewelries to prevent the further decline in skin health during monsoon season. 

So inculcating these habits daily during monsoon season can help you in enjoying the bright side of this beautiful weather with your healthy and glowing skin.
